La Herradura is a small local town, with about 4000 inhabitants in the winter, up to 16.000 during the busy summer months (July and August). The rest of the year it is a haven of peace, with the sun shining almost each day. The average temperatures during the winter range from 18-25, and in the summer 28-33 degrees Celcius. There are all sorts of water sports that you can practise; windsurf, sailing, kayak, diving and catamaran. All from the beautiful long beach of the town.

The winding coastline with the many beaches are surrounded by 3 stunning mountain chains; the Axarquia, las Alpujarras and the Sierra Nevada, with its great ski resorts make it a unique place in Europe. La Herradura is located between Nerja to the west, and Almuñecar to the east, and the lovely small towns of Maro and Cotobro.
La Herradura is only 45 min east of the city of Malaga, and south of Granada. You can visit the cities, and other cultural places during the weekends. There is good transportation with the local bus. It is a great place for water sports lovers, families and individual travelers and, of course, people looking to completely immerse into the Spanish culture.
